07 Feb Take Me to The Beach!
I am planning to escape the cold weather and go to a warmer place in a few weeks. I can’t wait! I’ve already started planning what to pack and possibly a few excursions for when we are there.
To really enjoy my time away I like to have everything thought out before I leave. I’ve done research on whether it’s a good idea to purchase the insurance when renting a car. After re-reading our blog on “The Dilemma of Purchasing Car Rental Insurance” and reviewing my auto policy, I have come to the conclusion that in my case I do not need to spend money on the rental insurance.
I also made sure I contacted my credit card company and bank letting them know of my travel plans. That way I can avoid any red flags on my account when I go to use the card.
Whenever I travel I make certain I have my proper insurance cards with me. This includes my auto, health, and prescription cards. Hopefully I will not have to use my health insurance card, but accidents do happen. If I travel internationally, I make sure to purchase travel insurance.
I also think that I will leave any unneeded valuables at home in the safe. When I’m at the resort I will use the room safe for any cash, jewelry, or credit cards. Better safe than sorry.
Before I leave I have a checklist of items to do for my home.
- Stop the mail
- Have someone shovel or plow in case of more snow
- Put a few lights on a timer
- Turn down the heat
- Make sure all windows and doors are locked
- Tell a neighbor the dates I will be gone and give my phone number in case of emergency
- Unplug any appliances
- Put any valuables in a safety deposit box or safe
- Turn on the alarm
Hopefully you also have travel plans coming up and these suggestions can put your mind at ease. Once I’ve accomplished this short list I am ready to relax and be warm!
