The holidays are full of celebrations, getting together with family and friends, and a lot of food and drink. How do you manage it all and stay healthy? Keep these seven tips in mind this season.
Never go to a party hungry. Before heading out, eat a small meal packed with protein and drink a glass of water. With so many food and drink options wherever you go choose wisely and always remember everything in moderation. That way you don’t feel like you’ve missed out on anything.
Have fun! Smile and laugh together. Laughter truly is great medicine.
Relax and take time for yourself. Read a good book, watch a movie, have quiet time, or take a nap. Try not to overload your schedule.
Exercise not only helps you physically but is a great stress reducer too! Take a fast walk, a 15 minute morning workout, or dance till your hearts’ content. If you can squeeze out 2 ½ hours a week you’ll be more energized. You’ll also sleep better at night.
Remember to wash your hands often. Germs spread so quickly during the holiday season. To properly wash and kill germs, wash hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and running water.
It’s a good idea to keep track of your holiday spending. Make yourself a budget and stick to it. Overspending just causes more stress in the months ahead.
Volunteer to help out those less fortunate this season. Doing good and helping others also improves your own outlook on life.
